The ZEDRA Probate & Estate Administration Team has lots of experience handling unique circumstances.
The Client
In this case, we were notified of a death of a gentleman who had an adult son who lived with him. It quickly became clear that the son was vulnerable and had relied significantly on his father when his father was alive.
The Challenge
The son was struggling to cope financially and was behind with priority bills. He was experiencing significant stress as a result of his situation but did not have the tools or knowledge to take remedial action.
The Solution
As the deceased gentleman had created a Trust with ZEDRA while he was alive making his son the sole beneficiary, ZEDRA’s Senior Trust Officer, Melanie James was able to swiftly arrange to visit the son in person and collect the documentation required to make priority payments from the Trust on his behalf and redirect correspondence to our team to avoid further burden on the beneficiary.
The Outcome
As a result of the way in which his affairs were handled and his stress alleviated, the surviving dependent welcomed a conversation with ZEDRA’s Senior Probate Officer, Neil Tomkinson to discuss implementing a Lasting Power of Attorney in case of any future needs. The beneficiary subsequently contacted the office to thank everyone involved for their exceptional support.
At ZEDRA we can help you navigate what do to when someone dies, support you as an Executor or assist individual Executors and Administrators as they navigate the process of probate.
We go the extra mile to support families through extremely difficult situations, so they can focus on remembering their loved ones and deal with the more personal matters like organising the funeral.
