Estate Administration Services
When a loved one passes away, the responsibility of acting as their executor or administrator (‘Legal Personal Representative’) often falls to grieving family members or friends. It is a challenging role which comes with personal liability for decisions and actions taken whilst acting in that capacity.
From April 2027, planned inheritance tax changes will make the role of a Legal Personal Representative considerably more complex. The proposed changes will mean that unused pension funds will be included within a person’s estate for inheritance tax purposes. The Legal Personal Representative will therefore be responsible for calculating, reporting and paying any inheritance tax due on these pension funds alongside the other assets in the estate.
Our SRA regulated law firm, Zedra Legal Services (UK) Limited (‘Zedra Legal Services’), offers two professional services to support Legal Personal Representatives following a death. Their Full Estate Administration Service is a comprehensive service dealing with all aspects of an estate whereas their Probate Assistance Service is limited to the application for the Grant of Representation (Probate) for Legal Personal Representatives that want to deal with some aspects of the estate themselves. Whichever service is selected, an experienced and dedicated Relationship Manager from our award-winning probate team will guide clients through the complexities of the estate administration process.
Professional Executorship Service
Clients often wish to appoint a professional executor in their Will to relieve their family and friends of the burden of this role at a difficult time.
Zedra Trust Company (UK) Limited (‘Zedra Trust Company’), which is part of the ZEDRA Group and the sister company of Zedra Legal Services, offers a professional executorship service and has decades of experience acting as Executor (and Trustee if there is a Trust in the Will) for thousands of clients. On the death of a client where Zedra Trust Company is appointed as executor, Zedra Trust Company will instruct Zedra Legal Services to administer the estate on its behalf.
How much do the estate administration services cost?
As each estate differs in terms of the make-up of the estate and complexity, a bespoke fee quote will be provided that reflects the circumstances of the estate and the level of support required. These fee scales represent Zedra Legal Services’ current charge rates, although Zedra Legal Services will charge in line with their rates at the time that they are instructed.
A 10% fee reduction will be offered to Quilter clients who engage Zedra Legal Services to provide estate administration services.

Wills, Codicils and Lasting Powers of Attorney
If your clients have a current Will and would like to change their appointed executor(s) to add Zedra Trust Company, we are currently offering, at no cost to your clients, a Codicil drafting service enabling your clients to appoint Zedra Trust Company as a Professional Executor to replace or act alongside their appointed executor(s).
If your clients would like a review of their current Will or perhaps do not have a Will, then Zedra Legal Services can also assist with this alongside the drafting of Lasting Powers of Attorney. Their fees can be found here.
