How did you get into the industry?

I was offered a temporary role with a large US bank to assist following an acquisition they had made and the rest is history!

As I have progressed, I’ve found it so satisfying to see more junior members of the team grow and flourish and become the next generation of leaders in the industry.

What has been a key learning in your career?

Embracing change is crucial for those operating in the funds industry, particularly as the sector continues to evolve both in Jersey and globally.

Over the past few years, Jersey has strengthened its position as a leading international finance centre by adapting to regulatory changes, embracing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) investing, and leveraging digital innovation to enhance fund administration.

Globally, there has been a shift towards alternative investments, greater transparency, and increased focus on diversity and inclusion within financial services. Whether by upskilling in fintech solutions, engaging with ESG strategies, or the evolving role of governance and compliance, the industry is continually changing.

What would you say to someone considering a career in your industry?

In Funds, no two days are ever the same and the amount of learning you undertake throughout your career doesn’t subside at any point. You need to remain curious and adaptable to thrive in this fast paced industry.

What are the opportunities and challenges you’re seeing in the industry?

One of the biggest challenges for funds service providers and fund managers right now is absorbing and embedding new laws and regulations into practice.

Whether in Jersey or operating a fund in another market, staying ahead of the latest regulatory and legal changes is a challenge. Another challenge (and opportunity) lies in the everchanging market dynamics in funds, and the industry being able to quickly adopt any newly introduced technology.
