Faces of ZEDRA: Desiree Schurter
17 December 2018
Desiree shares what drives her passion as a Director with ZEDRA.
Can you describe your role at ZEDRA?
As we are a relatively small team at the Malta office (currently growing), my role is very diverse. Apart from client relationship management and my involvement in corporate administration, I manage yacht crew payrolls and employment administration. I take care of our internal payments, invoicing, bookkeeping and reconciliations. As well as the above, my role involves recruitment training and ensuring smooth integration with the team. I am also entrusted with the responsibility of being one of the Board of Directors of the Malta office.
How did you get into your line of work and what drives your passion now?
I joined the financial services sector immediately after relocating to Malta 12 years ago. I’ve always found law and accounting very interesting as I’m a person that likes accuracy and communication. In the line of work I’m engaged in, this all comes together. The changing regulations and the busy environment add to the daily challenges I like to succeed in. Prior to working for ZEDRA, I worked for a boutique corporate services provider and a local accounting and fiduciary services firm. My passion is delivering excellent service and receiving positive feedback from clients. A satisfied client will refer business and that in turn results in the continuous growth of the recently acquired Malta office and ZEDRA per se.
In your mind, that makes ZEDRA different from other trust, corporate and fund service providers?
It is the philosophy of growth that I’m impressed with. What ZEDRA achieved in only 3 years is remarkable and shows that the people leading the company are extremely knowledgeable and experienced in the industry. Though the company is growing so fast, Management is still very approachable and makes sure employees are well taken care of. Also, there is opportunity to grow.
What do you love most about your job?
I like the daily challenges involved, such as keeping up with the changing rules and regulations and the fact that rarely one day is like the other. Having completed a task to the client’s satisfaction and receiving positive feedback is very rewarding. It is also very exciting visiting clients and their crew onboard and appreciating the beauty of luxury yachts.
What is your motto?
Work hard, dream big, never give up!
