Yacht or not – it’s back! Cowes Week 2021

21 July 2021

For yachting enthusiasts, the return of Cowes Week cannot come soon enough.

As this summer’s event gets underway, there will be a renewed interest in yacht ownership and its benefits. We explain how ZEDRA’s management and crewing services can support your seafaring ambitions.

The 195th Cowes Week 2021 is set to kick off on 31 July 2021. After having been cancelled because of the pandemic, sailors are no doubt desperate to get back in the water.

This year’s event will include eight IRC classes, Black Group One Designs such as the J/109 as well as 17 One Design Day Boat classes in the White Group.

A completely new class this year is the Club Cruiser Division. It is planned to run with two starts at the regatta each day, depending on the number of entries.

There will be a further four starts in the Performance Cruiser Division and of course there’s the epic Rolex sponsored Fastnet race which sets off on 8 August.

Laurence Mead, director of Cowes Week, said regardless of weather the event was set to be fantastic for boat racing. He added: “There won’t be any fireworks this year (at least not up in the sky!) as a Covid-safety decision but there will be great racing for thousands of keen sailors, and in the end, that’s what matters most.”
