Women in Leadership: Spotlight on Lisa Tan
From an early career in tax to leading ZEDRA’s client and corporate services in Singapore, Lisa Tan reflects on how she found her way into the industry and the mindset that has guided her career since.
How did you get into the industry?
I started my career as a tax adviser and came across the trust and fiduciary space by chance. At the time, I saw it as an opportunity to leverage my skills to support clients with the setup and administration of their structures.
What has been a key learning in your career?
Learning is a daily process. I believe that keeping an open mind, whether learning from peers, advisers or others around us, helps sharpen our thinking. The knowledge we gain along the way stays with us and continues to grow over time.
What would you say to someone considering a career in your industry?
Keep an open mind and be prepared to learn about different aspects of the business. The industry is multidisciplinary in nature, which makes it both interesting and rewarding.
What are the opportunities and challenges you’re seeing in the industry?
Balancing the role of being a people-driven business with the growing use of AI presents both an opportunity and a challenge. AI can help improve efficiency in many areas of our work, allowing teams to streamline processes and reduce time spent on repetitive tasks.
At the same time, it’s important that technology supports, rather than replaces, the human relationships that define our industry. When used thoughtfully, these tools can free up more time to focus on managing client relationships and delivering value.
