STEP Asia concludes another Conference with valuable results for ZEDRA

09 Nov 2017

The STEP Asia Conference once again provided a valuable space and opportunity this year for industry professionals and service providers to come together, share, network and hear from experts on the topics affecting the industry at this time and in the near future.

STEP Asia Conference is without doubt one of the most important conferences of the year, attracting attendees from across the continent.

ZEDRA showed its support for the event by sponsoring the STEP conference app, helping to connect attendees and keep them abreast of all event details. ZEDRA was represented by a key team of executives attending from it's Hong Kong and Singapore offices.

"The STEP Conference speakers and experts focused on topical issues pertinent to Asia. This included key topics impacting the industry including CRS, beneficial ownership registers, BEPS, cross-border, rise of trust services in China, family governance, impact of Trumponomics on the Trust industry," says Robert Glennie, ZEDRA Executive Director, Singapore. "This year hosted more than 40 speakers sharing their experiences and insight."

Jacqueline Shek, Executive Director, Trust Services, Hong Kong, who also attended added, "The recurring theme of this year's conference is the impact of geopolitics on private wealth management. Wealth creation generated by Belt and Road, President Trump's tax reforms, countries' responses to CRS, Brexit's implications on the enforcement of foreign judgement; now more than ever, wealth structure and wealth management strategy for international families must cater for and be responsive to global political trends."

"STEP Asia Conference allows a rare opportunity to come together and listen to the perspectives of experienced trust professionals on the changing and extensive reporting obligations for trustees and individuals," said Eileen Yee, Executive Director, Singapore. "It was expected that news concerning Paradise Papers and the legality of information used and given to the press to be a lively area of discussion. It just reinforces the need for trust professionals to keep abreast of the key issues relating to their work."

"STEP Asia Conference is a highly valuable two-day event and allows for firms such as ZEDRA to further develop our business opportunities," concludes Jacqueline.
